Each portrait study includes a planning consultation. We inquire about personalities, hobbies, likes and dislikes – we want to know what defines your baby, child and family. We discuss portrait photography locations and styling – even offering an extensive list of shopping inspiration for help in determining what to wear. We provide specific outfit ensembles – that are currently in stores – when coordinating a sibling group or family’s attire.

Photography sessions do not have time limits – we take as much time as needed. Outfit changes are welcomed. We strive to encourage a variety of captures – natural interactions and non-traditional posing using the beautiful backdrops of Kansas City, Liberty & the Northland. We utilize parks, urban areas, downtown, the Country Club Plaza, playgrounds, and your home… the possibilities are endless with fine art portraiture.
What makes our photographs truly fine art pieces that will be cherished for years to come? The artistry. Abby Benedict is a photographer as well as portrait artist. We spend hours delving into the possibility of every image. We take what we capture and enhance every feature of every photograph that we present to you. Clients can expect to have a variety of custom images featured with fantastic editing – saturated color, filmy black and white, muted sepia and vintage tones. Clients only see their custom artwork in print – we will never expect a client to purchase from an online gallery or a tiny little proof book. We meet with you for an ordering appointment in your home – or a restaurant, cafe, coffeeshop – wherever you are most comfortable to view and select your keepsake images. We print our proofs in full frame 4×6 size, allowing clients to see EXACTLY how their beautiful fine art will print as mounted wall portraits or canvas. We bring samples of our products and enable each client to make an informed decision regarding their fine art.
How can we offer such fantastic and personalized service to our clients? It’s simple. We take a low-volume approach to custom photography. We accept a very limited number of fine art portrait commissions per month. We strive for quality above all else. As such, we book sometimes several weeks in advance and recommend that you inquire with the studio as soon as possible for scheduling purposes. For newborn sessions, please inquire before baby arrives and we will guarantee time within our portrait calendar. Newborn sessions are best scheduled between 5 and 7 days of birth.
