You may notice that the blog has a new look! I love garish colors, what can I say.
The other night, my husband called me from a Redbox kiosk and read off a few titles in hopes that something might sound appealing. When he mentioned Inglorious Basterds, I was like, yeah! Bring it home! I mean, at the time, I knew almost nothing about the movie except that Tarantino and Brad Pitt were involved, so… it had to be good, right? Well, we made it about 20 minutes into the movie before I finally got up and googled to make sure that this was, in fact, Inglorious Basterds. Aaaaaaaand, it wasn’t. Nope. It was the 1970s version! Which apparently has an entirely different plot (if you can call a bunch of random military prisoners repeatedly and indiscriminately firing guns a “plot”) than the new and very nominated Tarantino flick. Man. We were sitting there, huddled on the couch, asking each other questions like,
“When is Brad Pitt going to show up?” (Okay, I’M the only one that asked that particular question.)
“How come the opening title was spelled B-a-s-t-a-r-d-s and not B-a-s-t-e-r-d-s?”
“Is the filming supposed to look so… retro?”
Twenty minutes of my life that I can’t get back. Thanks, Redbox!!!! You can watch a rousing clip here.
Unrelatedly, a “friend” suggested ever so delicately that Annabelle might have a Fran Drescher laugh. What do you think? I’m leaning toward yes. Either that, or she just sounds like me.
